But I would permit the child to take out loans if and only if I got it in writing that s/he understood that s/he would be living at home after college until that loan was paid off. Tuition $25,000.  Scholarship  $10,000.  We told him that we would pay $5,000.  He would need to work to pay $5,000.  And, we wouldn&amp;#39;t mind if he took out a $5,000 loan.  (He was already a Junior, after his AA from RS.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Read a news article yesterday of a young lady saddled with $100,000 in debt.  Her degree is in &amp;quot;Religious &amp;amp; Women&amp;#39;s Studies&amp;quot;.  How did she possibly think that this degree would lead to a career that could afford such a loan?
